Bears make terrible wedding guests!
Annie Fox is finally getting a handle on her new career as a locum, a travelling exotic animal veterinary surgeon. Word is getting around. Zoos, sanctuaries, and wild animal parks are starting to hire her. Thanks to her previous work, even US Fish and Wildlife is starting to take notice of her skills.
But when Annie gets a call from a wealthy landowner in Breckenridge, Colorado, the job isn’t like anything she’s done before. A grizzly bear has been shot and needs immediate surgery. Annie is ready to hop on the earliest flight, and her niece Trixie is gung-ho to tag along. There are only two problems. First, the last grizzly ever seen in Colorado was in 1979. Second, this particular bear is the prime suspect in a brutal attack on a groom on his wedding night.
Soon, Annie and Trixie are embroiled in a high-stakes world of lavish weddings, bitter class feuds, and a family of eccentric characters. Navigating between a wealthy landowner, an overeager mother of the bride, a distraught wedding planner, a jealous teenager, and an ambitious photographer is hard enough, but then Annie’s new friend, the grieving bride, is accused of orchestrating the attack on her new husband. Luckily, Trixie’s failed career in luxury event planning gives them insider knowledge about the lavish mountain nuptials. Annie will need all the help she can get to keep her skis pointed down the right slope.
Annie may not be a detective, but she’s not going to rest until she saves the glorious grizzly. Armed with her medical knowledge, an underappreciated niece, and a keen sense of smell, Annie is determined to solve the crime before the bear pays the ultimate price.
